Training Pathways
To support professional development and ensure high-quality surgical care, ESSO offers six structured 2-year organ-specific Training Pathways. Each pathway includes a mandatory course on Basics of Oncology for Surgeons, specialty foundational (Level 1) and advanced (Level 2) courses, complemented by optional webinars on specialty and transversal topics.
What's in it for you?
After completing all mandatory courses (timeline is flexible), eligible candidates may apply for a short-term observership in an ESSO-approved centre for training. Upon completing the observership, candidates will be awarded the ESSO Certificate of Competence, recognising their achievement of evidence-based training in surgical oncology and in their chosen specialty more specifically. The pathway concludes with the recommended EBSQ examination.
