ESSO-CSO Webinar on Optimizing BCS and Integrating Molecular Insights into Surgical Decision-Making

Aim of the webinar

This international webinar explored how molecular subtyping is reshaping breast cancer surgery. Experts highlighted a shift away from unnecessary mastectomies and extensive axillary procedures, advocating for breast-conserving strategies and minimally invasive approaches supported by early detection and neoadjuvant therapies.

Professor Yi-Zhou Jiang shared Fudan University’s research on subtyping triple-negative breast cancer, enabling more precise, personalised treatments. Clinical trials show that tailoring therapy to tumour subtype can significantly improve outcomes, reinforcing the role of molecular insights in modern surgical decision-making.
